Mental Health Matters 心理健康很重要
Family Life Ministry (aka “Home Life”) is sponsoring a hybrid conference on anxiety and depression on April 29-30, 7:30 – 9:00 PM. The keynote speaker is psychiatrist Dr. John Hsieh. Workshops will cover parent/child communication on mental health issues, stress management, and depression; the workshop speakers include psychiatrist Dr. Xiao Qing Liu and Christian counselor Edna Lee. No pre-registration required.

Recognizing and Overcoming Depression – Edna Lee, LPC
Mental health needs have significantly increased the past several years due to stressful life and world events. Most of us also may go through a period(s) of depression in our lifetime or know someone who is suffering from depression. Recognizing symptoms of depression and learning skills to overcome depression are important life skills for ourselves and our community. “May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.” (Col. 1:11)

Dr. John Hsieh –
John Hsieh was born in Taiwan and graduated from Medical College of Wisconsin. He finished his postgraduate residency training in psychiatry and behavioral medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and currently serves as an assistant professor there. He has been working with adults who struggle with various mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. In addition to medication treatment, he is also interested in biblical counseling and is pursuing certification through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors.
Dr. Xiao Qing Liu – 劉小青
劉小青醫生畢業於中國的浙江大學醫學院，在美國的紐約州立大學石溪分校獲得心理學博士學位，接受過德州大學休士頓醫學中心精神科住院醫的訓練，現在“Greater Houston Psychiatric Associates” 任精神科醫生。
Edna Lee –
Edna Lee has been counseling since 2003 working with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, faith, relationships and life adjustments. Edna provides evidence based counseling modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy. She also uses EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma as well as Neurofeedback to decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression. Edna received her M.A. in Counseling and M.A. in Theology from Columbia International University.
