Flood Clean Up Day
August 30, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Dear HCC Members,
We are all still reeling from the impact of Hurricane Harvey. While we know that many of our church members’ homes have been flooded, we are sure it is not an exhaustive list. Please keep us updated on which members have been affected.
If you want to help fellow church members clean out their flooded homes, please join us tomorrow, Aug 30th, 8:00AM at Willow Meadows Baptist Church.
Willow Meadows, one of the churches we have co-labored with at Shearn Elementary School, will be hosting an informational meeting tomorrow (8/30 at 8AM) on what to do if your home is flooded. The church address is 4300 West Bellfort. Jeff Peters, an expert in emergency management, will lead this session. After a flood, it is imperative to remove wet carpet, drywall, upholstery, etc within the first two to three days after the water is receded to prevent mold. He plans to demonstrate what must be done and how.
After the training, we will split up into teams and be sent out to church members in need. Please come prepared to help. Jeff Peters is suggesting the following:
Volunteers needed! Come dressed ready to work. Closed toe tennis shoes or rain boots. Adults and kids age 13 and up with parent. Bring sack lunch and water.
Tools that will help, please bring if you have them or can borrow them: work gloves, utility knives, boxes to help pack things newspapers, paper towels to wrap around items.
Since many of you will not be working for the next few days, or your classes have been suspended, let’s band together as the body of Christ to serve those in need. For further information, contact Pastor Fred at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please share this information with those whom you know have been affected. All are welcome.
HCC has not been flooded, and it is available as a shelter for any of our members or our friends. Please contact email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements.
The ongoing storm has flooded homes and damaged property of many church members. If you would like to donate a gift dedicated to the relief efforts for the individuals and families of HCC affected by the storm, please send a check payable to Houston Chinese Church to 10305 South Main St, Houston, TX 77025 and write in the memo “Benevolence/Flood Relief.”
