This guide aims to equip families, couples, and singles to conduct home worship on the Lord’s Day. Home worship cannot replace the God-ordained purpose and power of corporate worship as the church, but during this time of crisis, we hope it will be used by God to encourage believers and equip husbands, fathers, and spiritual heads to lead their family in worship.
Who should participate in home worship?
We encourage families with children of all ages to participate. We recommend conducting home worship on Sundays at 10:30am (~1 hour). It is advisable for all family members to still wake up at a reasonable hour, change out of their pajamas, eat breakfast, and then gather in the living room.
For singles, we encourage you to connect with a small group of friends over a video-conferencing platform and conduct home worship together. Due to the Stay at Home order in place, please refrain, for the time being, from visiting each other’s homes to conduct home worship.
Who should lead home worship?
In accordance with the pattern set in Scripture, we encourage believing husbands/fathers to lead their family in home worship. In instances where there is not a father in the home or the father is not a Christian, the mother will need to assume this role.
Among smaller non-family gatherings, the group can assign the task to conduct the home worship to any believing member. If you are not in a group, the following guide can still be utilized for personal devotion.
Which language should we use to conduct home worship?
How can I give during this temporary suspension of services?
Offerings and donations can be given online through HCC’s PayPal Giving Fund. We encourage members to stay the course of faithful generosity to the Lord and the ministry of his church.

Special Word to Members (Pastor Jason)
Call to Worship
Leader invites someone to read aloud
Leader then prays for God to prepare everyone’s heart for worship
Worship in Song
Guided Prayer (by Anne Bradstreet, 1612-1672)
Leader (L): My thankful heart with glorifying tongue will celebrate your name,
All (A): Who has restored, redeemed, re-cured from sickness, death, and pain.
L: I cried; you seemed to take some pause, I sought more earnestly.
A: And in due time you supported me, and sent me help from high.
L: Lord, while my fleeting time still lasts, Your goodness let me tell.
A: And new experience I have gained, my future doubts repel.
L: A humble, faithful life, O Lord, forever let me walk;
A: Let my obedience testify, my praise lies not in talk.
L: Accept, O Lord, my simple gift, for more I cannot give;
A What you bestow I will restore, for of your alms I live.
Confession of Sin
Leader (L): Father, we gather together with the expectant knowledge that, through your Son, you freely pardon all who repent and turn to him.
All (A): We have sinned against you this week in our thoughts, our words, and our actions. We have not loved you, or others, as you told us.
L: Grant us the mercy, the forgiveness, and the cleansing that Jesus gives to those who confess their sin.
L+A: On that basis, grant that we may continue to worship you in Spirit and in truth, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Worship in Song
Individuals choose a request and pray aloud
- Praise God for how he spoke in the past through his prophets and apostles and how his words have been preserved in the Bible for the instruction and encouragement of his people.
- Pray that during this time at home believers would continue to make time to commune with God through prayer and the reading of God’s Word.
- Confess that we have allowed the desire for the pleasures of this world to lessen our desire to commune with you.
- Thank God that He is not slow in keeping his promises and will fulfill them in his perfect timing.
- Praise God for his common grace that He has bestowed upon certain people the training and knowledge necessary for medical research.
- Pray for the scientific community that God would give them the knowledge and wisdom to develop an eventual vaccine for COVID-19 and an effective treatment for those experiencing severe symptoms from COVID-19.
- Forgive us for when the inability for us to control a situation results in words or thoughts that are displeasing to you.
- Thank God for how he continues to work even when we rest because if he ceased working then life would cease.
Leader concludes with a prayer for our hearts to humbly receive the reading and preaching of God’s Word

Guided Prayer (by Robert Parker, 1564-1614)
Leader (L): Show me how to love the word, that my bold love for you would increase.
- All (A): Remind me that the fashions of the world pass away, and their momentary glory will vanish into emptiness and nothing.
L: Draw my heart to you and set my mind on things that will last forever.
- A: Help me love you fiercely, and cleave to you with a perfect heart. May nothing here satisfy my soul.
L+A: Protect us through the rest of this day, that we may fall into no temptation, and no danger of soul or body, for the sake of Jesus Christ our blessed Redeemer. Amen.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

All products, prices, and shopping features are the same as at the regular amazon.com site, but HCC receives a 0.5% donation while the final price to you stays the same. And don’t forget that you can use a credit card to support the new Pearland Church building through the PayPal Giving Fund! Go to online giving for more information; remember to put “20” in the cents amount (e.g., $500.20“) if you are fulfilling your Pearland Pledge, or “19” in the cents amount if you have already fulfilled your pledge or don’t have a pledge but still wish to give to the Pearland Building Fund.
- HCC Weekly Financial Records
Though we currently are not printing church bulletins, we want to provide access to the weekly financial records that are normally found in the bulletin. We are thankful to God for your continued faithful giving, even during this season of hardship.
Kids Church Online For Children
For Families with Children (3 years old to 5th Grade), HCC Children’s Ministry is providing a Kids Church Online weekly lesson for your children. This will take the place of our weekly Kids Church or Sunday School.
Mr Frank’s suggestion is to plan your Sunday morning to hold Kids Church Online either before or after your Home Worship Time. If you plan to hold Home Worship at 10:30am as suggested, then have Kids Church Online run at 9:45-10:15am or from 11:40-12:10pm. You can allow your children to participate in Kids Church Online by themselves or join your kids.
Mr. Frank will be available online through Zoom at Kids Church Online MeetUp to say hello and answer questions. He will be online through Zoom meeting platform at either 10:15-10:30am and 12:00-12:30pm each Sunday if your kids want to say hello and tell me what they think of each Sunday’s lesson. The link to the Zoom meeting will be posted after each week’s Kids Church Online.
