The Rightly Ordered Church: The Gospel at Work

Bible Verses1 Timothy 6:1-2

Preacher

Preached on

June 3, 2018

Sermon Description

It's easy to work for a boss who's reasonable, friendly, and gives you the kind of respect you think you deserve. But, when you're in a job situation working for a boss who isn't like that, why should you still care to do good work and show him or her respect? What does it look like to thrive as a Christian in your workplace regardless of whether your boss is - at least in your eyes - good or bad?

The Rightly Ordered Church: Train Yourself in Godliness

Bible Verses1 Timothy 4:1-10

Preacher

Preached on

May 6, 2018

Sermon Description

So far, in 1st Timothy, Paul explains the structure of the church, both how it should be organized and the church's purpose: to uphold the truth of God. With that, Paul realizes that a false teaching of legalism has penetrated the church that will cause people to abandon the gospel. Paul applies a corrective against this false teaching by instructing Timothy and us to focus on training ourselves for godliness because of the gospel message that we have received.

Preached on

March 11, 2018

Sermon Description

How can Christianity be pro-women if it prohibits them from doing something in the church? Many would either reject the notion that Christianity is good for women or reinterpret the prohibitions. But Scripture affirms both. God's heart for women is huge and his rightly-ordered churches do them no harm.

The Rightly Ordered Church: Men and Women – Different By Design

Bible Verses1 Timothy 2:13; Genesis 1-3

Preacher

Preached on

March 4, 2018

Sermon Description

1 Timothy 2 contains an apostolic command regarding the role of women in the church that is theologically grounded in God’s original design for creation. By grasping God’s design for men and women to be both equal and different, we’re in a better position to receive a teaching that is starkly rejected by Western society.
