Sermon Description

Setting goals, creating timelines, making plans – these are responsible activities of everyday life. But if we are not careful, they are also occasions for sin. You may not be actively spurning the Lord or rebelling against his will, but a passive dismissal of the Lord’s will when making plans is equally sinful.

Sermon Description

We are faced with decisions every day. Most are minor in significance and require little thought or deliberation. But for those decisions that require careful thinking and planning, Christian should seek the Lord for guidance. But what kind of guidance can we expect? Sermon Description

We come to the end of this narrative in Exodus. It started with God’s people breaking the covenant by making the golden calf and ends with God renewing this covenant as a response to a plea from Moses. Moses’ shining face is sign of God renewing the covenant. While this is a great and awesome thing, we must see that his shining face is only a shadow of a greater covenant to come.

Sermon Description

When things are not going as expected, it is natural for us to doubt and question God.  Instead of asking why this is happening, may we ask who is in control?  What God promises will indeed come to fruition.

Sermon Description

Moses has received an undeniable call from the LORD, but he is still trying to wiggle his way out of it. God makes it clear that his plans are in no way dependent on Moses' compliance, but he patiently deals with Moses and his excuses in order to magnify his divine power through our human weaknesses.

Sermon Description

Due to inclement weather caused by Hurricane Harvey, all HCC worship services are canceled for August 27, 2017.

Though we cannot congregate in body, we can do so in spirit. This sermon (originally preached on August 4, 2013) has been made available for church members to utilize in private or family worship on Sunday morning.

God's attribute of independence (his aseity) speaks of how infinitely big he is. It's what we must remember when feeling so infinitesimally small in the face of a massive storm.

Sermon Description

Samson took his gifts for granted. He saw his superhuman strength as an inalienable right. His enemies, on the other hand, saw it as a riddle to solve or spell to break. What they all failed to see is that everything God gives is grace. Grace is what Samson’s life points to, especially the way it ends in a victorious defeat.

Sermon Description

Here we have a tragic portrait of a spiritually-advantaged, gifted man who fails to live up to his calling. He just lives for himself, doing whatever he wants whenever he wants. But to our surprise he is actually doing what God wants – to separate His people from an enemy with whom they have grown far too comfortable.

Sermon Description

Christians have been blessed by God beyond what we can even ask or imagine. Every spiritual blessing conceivable is availed to those who are in Christ Jesus. The reason "why" rests in a choice. A choice made long, long before you and I were even born.

August 16, 2015

Sermon Description

God in His sovereignty can use negative circumstances to accomplish His eternal Master plan. This can include suffering and hurt. During those times, may we remember what Christ has done for us on the cross. Just as God has forgiven us, may we forgive others, who have hurt us, and seek restoration. May we recognize that He is in total control.
