Sermon Description

For non-believers, skepticism of the Resurrection is what leads to doubts about regeneration. But for believers, it's often our skepticism of regeneration that has led to doubts about the Resurrection. Because of the lack of real change in our life, we begin to question everything about our faith. This Easter morning’s passage reminds Christians how the reality of the Resurrection ought to result in real change and the newness of life.

Sermon Description

As the global pandemic rages and the death toll rises, many are wondering why God delays to answer prayers and end this suffering. In John 11, we encounter Martha and Mary who are wondering the same as they suffer the loss of their brother. Jesus's reminder that he is the resurrection and the life are the words we need right now.

Sermon Description

What is a Christian? Some would say a moral person. Others a religious person. Paul would say a Christian is most fundamentally a resurrected person. In Colossians 3, the Apostle plans to draw out practical implications of his theology of Christ from earlier chapters. But he begins with a reminder of the Christian’s identity rooted in Christ.

Sermon Description

There are solid reasons to believe Jesus’s tomb was empty, and there are credible reasons to believe his follower’s claim of a Resurrection. But there have always been reasons to deny it all. It appears the question we need to ask is whether or not we desire the Resurrection.

Sermon Description

As our bodies age – as they grow weaker and more prone to illness and injury – they become sources of pain and frustration. Yet the Christian's hope is not to one day shed this burdensome body but to see it changed. We anticipate being raised in an imperishable, resurrection body like Christ's.

Sermon Description

We live in a world that is broken.  It is filled with news of death, disease, and disaster.  Yet as Christians we live with hope because of the gospel.  The gospel is not just merely about Christ dying on the cross for our sins to restore us unto a relationship with God.  It is also about resurrection, which is the promise of new life.  For a gospel without the resurrection leads to a life without hope.  How do we persist then to believe in the resurrection?

Sermon Description

The Gospel, the Good News, is rooted in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul addresses those who denied the physical bodily resurrection, because only through the resurrection can we find the true hope of eternal life and freedom from the penalty and power of sin.

Sermon Description

How can I believe in the Resurrection without evidence to back it up? If I can’t see Jesus with my own eyes and touch him with my own hands, how can I believe a dead man came back to life? That was not just an ancient dilemma for the apostle Thomas but a modern question asked by doubters and skeptics today. Fortunately, John says he wrote his gospel to give all of us good reasons to believe.

J.R.R. Tolkien coined the term "eucatastrophe" to describe a joyful catastrophe that comes out of nowhere at the end of a story and changes everything for the better. He believed all stories with happy endings can be traced back to the eucatastrophe of the Resurrection

Sermon Description

Remember who you are and where you came from. That's not just pop psychology. It's what the Apostle is challenging his readers to do. But instead of having us gaze at our navels and complain about our parents, Paul confronts us with the grimness of our former life without Christ (where we're from) but balanced with the glory of the new life we now share with Him (who we are).
